My 1st Bone Broth made at Hemsley + Hemsley at Selfridges









After over 20 years of not eating meat, I decided to start drinking bone broth. A discussion I have taken a long time to make. With my thyroid issues added into the mix and my digestion being weak, I wanted to add bone broth into my healing protocol.

I’ve been taking probiotics for years, then I started to realise I needed to do more if my weak digestion is a drain on the rest of my body.

I went to Hemsley + Hemsley new cafe in Selfridges to try and taste the broth so I know how it tastes before I start making my own.

I learnt bone broth helps restore healthy mucosal lining in the gut, its high gelatine and collagen and high in proline a very important amino acid. Super charging my food with bone broth to support my hormones and immune system. Sounded like a very good idea to me and the benefits are so much longer than what I’m writing here.


Raw Cinnamon Cheesecake

As I am the only person eating these goodies, I make enough for one or I freeze food I know I can not eat. Cinnamon to me tastes amazing and is so good for your body.

Raw Cinnamon Cheesecake

1 cup of cashews – soaked overnight and raised
¼ tbsp spoon of ‘Higher Nature Probiotic powder’
As much water as the blender needs to assist the blending until the nuts are smooth

Once the nuts are smooth, put into a bowl and cover with cling film. Poke some holes in the cling film. I place mine in my hot water cupboard for a few hours until it smells a little sour. This is now nearly a nut cheese. So place into a nut bag, get a bowl then a colander over the bowl and the nut milk bag inside the colander. With a plate and something heavy on top. This will take about 4 hours and liquid will dip out, which is whey. I save this in a glass jar in my fridge.

Once ready the nut cheese with look like a ball and thick. So I placed this in a bowl, with ⅓ cup of coconut sugar, which I have blended to a powder with cinnamon. Mix in with the cheese, add vanilla, I use liquid. Stir until smoothie, I added a teaspoon of chia seeds and a ¼ of a cup of melted coconut fat. Stir in until smooth.

The base I used fried coconut and melted coconut fat, I mix and press into the mould I am using.
As I said earlier I make enough for me, I am I using my eye to work the amounts need.

Then place in your fridge, covered in cling film, to set. This should take about 1 hour. Then share and enjoy maybe with a cup if your favourite tea.

Ok, I started writing an intelligent write-up for this post. It’s is cut and pasted below this recipe. I am going to cut straight to the point here, this is about poop people ! Every day once, twice or three times. Everyday this is a pivotal point. If you have any issues with poo, like you don’t want to poo at your boyfriend’s house or girlfriends house or anywhere else.

I highly recommend you make this recipe and this pink sauerkraut is so pretty.

Sauerkraut recipe
1 x Cabbage red or green cabbage or a 50/50 mix of the two depending on what you have
3 x Carrots
Grate these two, I use my food processor. Then

3 x Lemons juice
¼ cup of Apple cider vinegar
¼ cup of Extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon of natural good quality salt
probiotic I use ‘Higher Nature probiotic powder’, this has a little spoon inside it. I use two of those in this recipe

Sterilized glass jars, I use ‘Kilner jars’ for preserving my sauerkraut.

Place in a large bowl the biggest you have, your grated cabbage and carrot. Pour over the rest of the ingredients and then turn and mix in your bowl with your hands.

Place your sauerkraut into your sterilized glass right to the top – air tight.
Some people say let it sit for an hour in the dark and then place in the fridge.

Other say people say let it sit for 5 days and then place in the fridge and then I find it last for a good month. I have a hand full with my lunch and dinner.

Digestion takes up a lot of our bodies energy as we are continuously feeding ourselves. Our bodies are naturally designed to detoxify themselves but this process becomes interrupted with eating. Never mind eating too much or eating very heavy foods. Then not drinking enough water or being low in digestive enzymes. Even our tummies get tired or low in energy. Then if we are not pooping regularly this then puts strain on other organs, like our liver.

Sauerkraut will support the digestive process if you add as little as a hand full with your lunch or dinner.
